Community Programs
I helped organize and execute community programs such as The Homecoming Hero Awards, Homecoming Field Trips, and The Crab Tank Pitch Competition. These programs were used to highlight and celebrate organizations and local leaders for their positive influence in Baltimore. I mainly provided administrative support in organizing and planning content shoots, acting as a point of contact for participants, and creating and distributing media content.
Homecoming Hero Awards
The Homecoming Hero Awards, sponsored by T. Rowe Price, are public-driven through a nomination process on the Baltimore Banner’s website and exist to celebrate and uplift “heroes” within Baltimore’s communities. Winners are awarded cash prizes of $5,000 and invited to share their work on the stage during Homecoming’s signature event in October that will bring back dozens of accomplished Baltimoreans from across the country.
Crab Tank Pitch Competition
The program serves to expand and uplift small to medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurs by providing coaching resources to help finalists refine their pitches and high-quality video content to use for marketing. Following the event, winners continue to benefit from the program with opportunities to network with Baltimore Homecoming’s alumni and community partners at regional events, increase visibility on a larger scale and increase access to social, intellectual and financial capital.
Field Trip
The field trips are an essential part of the Homecoming experience as attendees are able to personally engage with the work being done by the selected organizations and renew their connection with the city.
